Microplastics Monitoring Program

In 2022, we launched this new program which involves sampling and analyzing microplastics found in tributaries of the Susquehanna River. These plastics, an alarming and growing problem impacting the health of freshwater/marine life and these ecosystems, carry far downstream, even affecting the Chesapeake Bay, and the ocean beyond. We are piloting this program with some of our Stream Team Citizen Scientists and will be bringing on more teams into 2023.
