April 21 & 22, 2023
We celebrated Earth Day by helping to clean up two waterways within the
Lower Susquehanna River watershed. On Friday April 21, we headed south to the
confluence of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay at Perry Point, MD. The Perry Point VA Medical Center invited us to join their community cleanup along the banks of the Susquehanna where we moved over 1,000 pounds of trash.
On Saturday April 22, we co-hosted with Conestoga River Club to clean up the Conestoga River in Lancaster. We removed tons of trash from the River and floodplain! We love working with the “wrecking crew” because they can get it done!
River Clean Ups are a fun way to meet new people who also care about
our waterways. After a few hours of picking trash, it is very rewarding to
see all the contents of those bags fill a dumpster! We can easily see the
difference we can make with just a few hours of work.
