The 5th Annual Dam Bridge Challenge is a series of paddle races which showcase our River and benefits the work of the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper.
Spend the morning out on the water getting to know one of the oldest rivers in the world – the mighty Susquehanna River.
Choose from four different paddle races of varying lengths on Lake Clarke in the Lower Susquehanna River.
10 mile race – “The Challenge”
3 mile race
Kid’s 1/4 mile race
1 mile Recreational Paddle
After the water races, we’ll move the fun onto the land at Shank’s Mare Outfitters with music, good food and cold beverages. Enjoy a beer with your paddle people as we celebrate with an Awards Ceremony.
The Dam Bridge Challenge
From our headquarters at Shank’s Mare Outfitters, paddling to the Safe Harbor Dam OR to the Veterans Memorial Bridge is a 10-mile round trip. This is THE CHALLENGE! The direction of the Challenge will be decided on race morning.
Additional races are: 3-mile and Kid’s ¼ race. This year, the 1 mile length will be a recreational paddle. This means that the 1 mile is not technically a race because it will not be “officially timed”.
Whichever race you choose, your participation makes you our partner in advocating for clean water and working to improve the health of the Lower Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay!
Challenge yourself as you take in the beautiful Susquehanna Riverlands landscape and support clean water!
