Greener Codorus Initiative – Monday Work Crew

October 17, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Join us for weekly vegetation maintenance to keep harmful herbicides from being sprayed along the Codorus Creek in York City.

Come out and chop some vegetation along the Codorus Creek. In the past, the Army Corps of Engineers would spray herbicides to keep a clear line of sight to visually inspect their levies and flood control walls. However, for the last 8 years we’ve stopped those harmful herbicides from being sprayed by manually controlling vegetative growth keeping the Codorus Creek in downtown York GREEN. It is very rewarding to be a part of this great work.

Where/When:

  • Monday 9:00-11:00AM
  • Meet at Foundry Plaza Codorus Boat Basin. 226 W. Philadelphia St. York, PA 17401
  • Please wear long pants, shoes with good ankle support and bring your own water bottle.
  • All tools and safety equipment will be provided thanks to the York County Community Foundation and Powder Mill Foundation. We’ll have water jugs filled with “That good York Water” to refill your bottle.

Please do not come out if it’s wet or raining, we cannot do this work in wet conditions. Schedule is subject to change. Make up days due to weather or other events will be posted as necessary. ALL VOLUNTEER HOURS COUNT TOWARDS ANY REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE OBLIGATIONS. We’ll even write letters for you, if needed!

Feel free to sign up for more than one date.  You can pre-register up to two months in advance.
